Ferrari to be first to reveal 2009 car

Ferrari looks set to be the first team to unveil its 2009 car, according to reports in the Italian press.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the Maranello-based outfit will reveal its F2009 at Fiorano in the middle of January.

The most likely date is January 15, the same day that Toyota is scheduled to reveal images of its TF109.

On the following day, the new McLaren will be launched at its Woking headquarters, and on January 19 the 2009-specification Williams and Renault cars will be test-debuted in Portugal.

On January 20, BMW Sauber's F1.
09 will run for the first time at Valencia's Ricardo Tormo circuit.

Red Bull does not plan to begin testing its RB5 until February, and Force India will wait until March.

Happy holidays from Formula1

It's been a memorable year for Formula One racing, not least for Lewis Hamilton’s maiden drivers’ crown and the most exciting climax to a world championship in years. As 2008 draws to a close, we would like to thank you for your support over the past season and wish our users the very best for the holiday period.

Needless to say the first month of 2009 already looks set to be a busy one as the teams gear up for the opening round of the new season in Australia. Already several have confirmed plans to launch their new cars in January, with features including slick tyres, reduced aerodynamics and KERS, in line with the revised ’09 regulations.

Toyota will kick off proceedings with an online launch for their TF109 on January 15. The following day McLaren will unveil the MP4-24 at their Woking base in the UK. Renault and Williams have chosen the new Algarve Motor Park in southern Portugal to roll out their R29 and FW31 machines on January 19, a day before BMW Sauber debut the F1.09 at Spain’s Jerez circuit.

There will also be plenty of testing activity following the mid-winter break, with most teams expected to track debut their 2009 machines in mid to late January.
